JVC HA-NC100 ANR Headphones - (S&H $6.95) - For years we recommended the Noisebuster headphones by NCT. They had very good noise reducion, (15 dB) at a decent price. Then, when they were discontined, we found a new affordable model by EarHugger that was just as affective. While both were quite affordable, sound quallity was only adequate, not great. But, in a noisy environment, we figured our goal, since none of us travel all that much, was just to enable us listen at a safe volume level to protect our hearing for those times when we could listen to great quality "Open" Cans. But, we heard from many of you who do travel more, want better sound quality, but don't want to spend $300 on the big name ANR headphones from the self boastful company that won't even reveal their specs!

Enter JVC. We have tested more than a half dozen ANR headphones under $100 and have found for better sound quality we prefer this JVC model. We easily heard more detail from our music source than we did from the other models we listened to. And at 12 dB attenuation, it's better than many department store models, (many models only offer 10 dB, plus the mid-sized, "Closed" design blocks out some other random noises). Two other nice features, the cord winds up inside of the folding headphone for easier toting, (retracts best when in the collapsed position), plus the ANR circuitry is built into the headphone rather than a seperate box which adds to it's convenience. Bottom line, our favorite under $100 ANR headphone!
